Laundrette Terms of Use

The following terms apply to all visitors and customers using the self-service facilities at H&M Laundrette Ltd, 157 Mitcham Rd, London SW17 9PG. By entering and using our premises, you agree to abide by these terms.

1. Use of Equipment

  • All washing machines and dryers are to be used in accordance with the instructions displayed on each machine
  • Do not overload machines — maximum load capacities are clearly marked
  • Report any machine faults or malfunctions to staff immediately
  • Do not attempt to repair, tamper with, or force open any machine
  • Only use detergents and products suitable for machine use

2. Personal Items & Liability

  • All personal belongings and laundry items are brought to the premises at your own risk
  • H&M Laundrette Ltd is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal property left on the premises
  • Items left in machines after your cycle has completed may be removed by staff
  • Items left uncollected for more than 7 days may be donated or disposed of
  • Please check all pockets before loading — we are not liable for damage caused by items left in clothing (pens, coins, keys, etc.)

3. Prohibited Items

The following items must not be placed in our machines:

  • Items contaminated with hazardous substances (oil, petrol, chemicals)
  • Items heavily soiled with animal waste
  • Footwear (unless specifically approved by staff)
  • Items with excessive loose debris (sand, gravel, etc.)

4. Behaviour & Safety

  • Children must be supervised at all times — do not allow children to play on or near machines
  • No smoking, vaping, or consumption of alcohol on the premises
  • Please keep the premises clean and tidy — dispose of lint and rubbish in the bins provided
  • Abusive or threatening behaviour towards staff or other customers will not be tolerated and may result in being asked to leave
  • CCTV is in operation on the premises for the safety and security of all customers and staff

5. Opening Hours

Our opening hours are displayed at the entrance and on our website. All machines must be started at least one hour before closing time. Customers must vacate the premises by closing time. We reserve the right to alter our opening hours without prior notice.

6. Service Wash Items

Items left for service wash are processed with reasonable care. We follow care label instructions where provided. We are not liable for colour run, shrinkage, or damage to items without care labels or items that are not suitable for machine washing. A receipt will be provided — please retain this for collection.

7. Refunds

If a machine malfunctions during your cycle, please report it to staff immediately. Refunds or complimentary re-washes will be provided at our discretion. Refunds cannot be given for user error (e.g. incorrect machine selection, overloading).
